Judy Jones’ Legacy of Inclusion
Variety honors and celebrates the life of Judy Jones whose generous spirit and dedication to others have left an enduring mark on the St. Louis community.
Judy was deeply invested in empowering children with special needs to reach their full potential. Together, with late husband Dennis, Judy’s commitment to an inclusive future took shape in 2005 with the creation of the Dennis and Judith Jones Variety Wonderland Playground in Forest Park. Their vision transformed a half-acre into an oasis where children of all ages and abilities could freely play together.
“Judy recognized how transformational an inclusive playground would be,” explains Variety Chief Executive Officer, Brian Roy.
“More importantly, she and Dennis were willing to invest and lead by example to create unique opportunities for children to explore and build lasting friendships.”
Judy was recognized as Variety’s Woman of the Year in 2016 for her charitable efforts and advocacy. In 2018, she received the distinguished Presidential Citation Award from Variety International.
“Judy’s unwavering belief that ALL children deserve love and support continues to inspire so many leaders throughout the St. Louis community,” shares Variety Board Chair, Mike Lefton. “We are truly grateful and blessed to have known her.”
Judy’s legacy will live on through the smiles and laughter of thousands of Variety Kids, inspiring others to redefine abilities and reimagine possibilities.
