We’re looking for collaborative, charismatic leaders and decision-makers, ages 14 and up, to join our team for Summer Adventure Camp 2022, a day camp designed specifically for children and teens with disabilities. All our team members empower campers to form friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime, gaining critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills along the way.
Several paid and volunteer positions are available, so you’re sure to find the role perfect for you!
Paid camp counselors join campers as they participate in activities, providing encouragement and support as well as assisting with personal care needs. Paid lead counselors lead an age-specific group of campers, and their counselors and volunteers, throughout the day, providing guidance and assisting with activities as needed. And paid activity specialists plan and lead all camper groups in specialized activities such as music, cooking, games, sports and more.
Our volunteers also play a critical role. They assist paid staff in ensuring each camper has a positive experience by participating alongside campers in a variety of activities, helping them make friends and have fun while learning about working with children with disabilities.
Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday – Friday for each week-long session. All staff members and volunteers can plan to arrive a little before check-in begins and leave a little after check-out ends.
The location of Camp changes each day to accommodate for various activities, but each location is within the St. Louis region. Staff members and volunteers will need to provide or arrange for their own transportation to and from Camp, but transportation will be provided as needed should we change locations within a Camp day.
There are six weeks of Camp available – when applying, you may select which weeks you are available. This year’s Camp schedule is as follows:
- Week 1: June 6 – 10, 2022
- Week 2: June 13 – 17, 2022
- Week 3: June 20 – 24, 2022
- Week 4: July 11 – 15, 2022
- Week 5: July 18 – 22, 2022
- Week 6: July 25 – 29, 2022
For paid staff members, we do require availability for at least three full weeks of Camp. Both volunteers and paid staff are required to attend mandatory training – both trainings are currently scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
