We are excited to announce Ashlyn Ege as our new Communications Coordinator at Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis. Ashlyn plays a critical role in building awareness of our mission and vision across multiple audiences and platforms through communications campaigns and tactics.

Ashlyn recently graduated in May 2023 from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a bachelor’s in communication studies, specializing in public relations, along with a journalism and sociology minor. Ashlyn is excited to begin her career journey with Variety.

She shares, “I am so incredibly thankful Variety gave me this opportunity right after graduation. I am excited to help lift the voices of their community, and ultimately help their mission be seen, heard and valued” Ashlyn is passionate about diversity, equity and inclusion practices, also known as DE&I.

Originally going to SIUC for journalism, Ashlyn quickly realized that she wanted to pursue communications instead to help promote the stories of people, communities, and organizations. She served on the executive board of SIUC’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, PRSSA, as PR Director and President. She executed and managed her own campus-wide campaign as President known as the Kindness Project.

Ashlyn’s hometown is Rockton, IL, and she is new to the Saint Louis area. She loves art, being outdoors, and traveling. She considers herself a forever learner, meaning she indulges in National Geographic and trying new things. During her free time, she enjoys reading, puzzling, and spending time with her significant other Harrison.

Ashlyn takes inspiration from a quote in the 2015 Cinderella movie, “have courage and be kind”. She says it is a quote her mom has been saying since they saw the movie together, and believes it is the most influential quote in her life.
