Variety St. Louis is proud to welcome our new Board Chair – Mike Lefton, MX Holdings Executive Chairman – and new Board Vice Chair – Sean Fleming, Distribution Management CEO.

Mike and Sean will lead Variety in our 90th year of empowering children with disabilities. With their passionate and driven leadership, Variety will confidently address the unprecedented demand ahead.

“Through their years of committed service on Variety’s Board of Directors, Mike and Sean have demonstrated an extraordinary devotion to children with special needs,” shares Variety Chief Executive Officer, Brian Roy.

“We are so fortunate to have forward-thinking business and community leaders like Mike and Sean who believe in the potential of all children.”

Mike is the second-generation leader of MX Holdings, a private, family-owned, vertically integrated portfolio of companies which delivers advanced aluminum solutions, worldwide.

Mike received his BS in Business Administration from The University of Missouri-Columbia and earned an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.

For more than 15 years, Mike and his wife Debbie have actively supported Variety’s mission, cherishing the opportunity to personally connect with Variety Families.  They lead by example through their commitment to philanthropy and supporting those in need. 

“As Variety celebrates 90 years of empowering local kids, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Board Chair during this organizational milestone,” explains Mike.  “More families than ever are requesting support from Variety, and I am eager to lead our efforts to meet the unprecedented demand.”

In addition to his committed work with Variety St. Louis, Mike currently serves as Regional President of the American Jewish Committee St. Louis and as a board member of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri, National Council of Jewish Women Advisory Council, and Heat-Up/Cool Down St. Louis.  Mike is also a past President of Congregation Shaare Emeth and the St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer.

Incoming Vice Chair, Sean Fleming, brings over three decades of business expertise in the office products, eCommerce fulfillment and distribution sectors, leading to his appointment as CEO of Distribution Management (DM) in 2010.  

Sean earned his undergraduate degree from Missouri State University and an MBA from Saint Louis University.

Sean, along with his wife Jenn and their entire family, embraced Variety’s mission in 2017, and consistently inspires others to follow suit.   Always an innovative thinker, Sean leverages his network to expand Variety’s mission to friends, family, and the broader community.

“I have been an active supporter of Variety for the past seven years and strongly believe in the organization’s mission,” shares Sean.  “I am honored to be a part of Variety’s leadership team and anxious to help expand Variety’s impact to more children.”

Additionally, Sean is an active supporter of many local organizations including Turner Syndrome Society and Boys Scouts of America.

Together, Mike and Sean will usher in a promising and expansive future that welcomes new families and new supporters to advance Variety’s mission for 90 more years.
