Last month, Ameren hosted their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit. This event, which was held virtually this year, celebrates the importance of these topics in our world, lives, and workplaces, and features multiple speakers from Ameren and other area organizations.
Among others, the Summit included keynote addresses from our friends Kimberly Steward, of K Period Media, and David Steward II, of Polarity. Warner Baxter, former board chair of Variety and current chairmen, president and CEO of Ameren, also spoke. A highlight of the event was a choral performance by the Ameren Singers, who were joined by none other than the Variety Children’s Chorus.
The members of the inclusive Variety Children’s Chorus were thrilled to perform virtually and share a message of accessibility and inclusion with the Summit’s many attendees. They performed two songs alongside the Ameren Singers, “We are the World” and “Stand by Me.”
You can now view these virtual performances on our YouTube – find “We are the World” here and “Stand by Me” at this link. As you can see, these were the perfect songs for the Summit and the children enjoyed performing them!
Thank you, Ameren, for your continued support of Variety St. Louis and Variety Kids, for inviting the Variety Children’s Chorus to perform, and for your tireless efforts surrounding improving diversity, equity and inclusion in our community.
