Imo’s Pizza and Variety St. Louis teamed up once again to empower local kids and teens with special needs and to serve up a little extra happiness along the way. On Wednesday, October 15, more than 90 Imo’s locations participated in Imo’s for Kids Day, donating a portion of proceeds to support Variety’s life-changing programs.
At Imo’s iconic Hampton location, the day kicked off bright and early with laughter, pizza dough, and big smiles. Variety Kids Evy (14), Nora (12), and Easton (11) were welcomed by Dutch Guidici, Imo’s CEO, and his team for a hands-on pizza-making experience they’ll never forget. As the kids spread sauce and added their favorite toppings, Mr. Guidici even surprised Evy with a special ghost-shaped crust!
While the kitchen buzzed with excitement, Chris Regnier of Fox 2 News was there capturing every heartwarming moment for Fox 2 News Live in the Morning. Chris sat down with the kids and their moms to talk about the powerful role Variety plays in their lives.
“This is an AAC Device that Evy needed that costs over $5,000 and our insurance wouldn’t pay for it. It gives Evy a voice, and Variety stepped in to help her be able to have that,” shared Jenny, Evy’s mom, during the segment.
For more than 20 years, Imo’s and Variety St. Louis have stood side-by-side for this annual day of giving, contributing over $2.1 million to provide local children the equipment, therapies, and opportunities they need to thrive. As a true St. Louis institution, Imo’s uses its reach and heart to make a lasting difference in the community.
“Variety St. Louis has always held a special place in our hearts, and we are again honored to support their mission of providing children with the tools they need to overcome challenges and embrace their full potential,” shares Imo’s Pizza Founder, Margie Imo.
Families of children with special needs face enormous financial challenges as they work to give their kids the best possible chance at independence. That’s why Imo’s continued support is more crucial than ever, especially as requests for Variety’s programs surge and waitlists grow for essential tools like medical equipment, therapy, and enrichment opportunities.
“Variety counts on partners like Imo’s and the support of our community to continue providing children with special needs the essential tools and programs they deserve, from medical equipment and therapy to recreation and the performing arts,” explains Brian Roy, Chief Executive Officer of Variety the Children’s Charity.
This cherished partnership is celebrated every year by Variety families, whose lives are changed thanks to Imo’s generosity. Together, they’re helping more kids find their voices, take their first steps, and discover what’s possible.
