Since being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that affects the central nervous system, seven-year-old Ezra has faced significant barriers that have limited his mobility. Maneuvering his manual wheelchair has been a challenge, forcing Ezra to rely on others to navigate his surroundings.

When Ezra’s family connected with Variety, it marked a pivotal moment, not only for his mobility, but for his freedom and autonomy.  Just in time for first grade, Variety provided Ezra with a power wheelchair, unveiling a world of newfound possibilities.

“When the power chair was delivered to school, Ezra was THRILLED to see it waiting for him!”

“It allows him to participate in more activities and for longer periods of time, keeping up with his classmates,” shares Ezra’s mom, Karlita.

Ezra’s new equipment also empowers him to make his own decisions and forge deeper connections with classmates. With his infectious smile and playful personality, Ezra’s independence has become a source of joy for all those around him.

“As such a social kid, the new power wheelchair has boosted his confidence even more.”

“He likes to ‘race’ his classmates during recess, something he’s never done before,” explains Karlita. “We are so grateful to Variety for this life-changing tool!”

Variety’s impact extends far beyond mobility, inspiring kids like Ezra to break barriers and unlock their full potential.
