Variety’s Believe Gala: 2026 Recap

The St. Louis community gathered for an inspiring and unforgettable evening at the 2026 Variety Believe Gala, where this year’s theme, Stories of PossAbility, brought to life the powerful journeys of local children and teens with disabilities and the transformative impact of Variety’s programs.

Held at The Ritz-Carlton, the evening immersed guests in a whimsical, storybook-inspired experience that highlighted real stories from Variety Kids and the meaningful ways support from the community helps them thrive. From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was filled with energy, creativity, and a shared sense of purpose.

Returning emcee Margie Ellisor of FOX 2 guided the evening’s program with warmth and enthusiasm, reflecting on Variety’s longstanding commitment to empowering children of all abilities. She was joined by Mike Lefton, Chair of Variety’s Board of Directors, who helped underscore the organization’s vision and the importance of continued community support in advancing its mission.

A standout moment of the evening featured acclaimed performer Christopher Jackson, whose presence brought both star power and heartfelt sincerity to the stage. In a deeply moving address, Jackson spoke about the collective impact of everyone in the room, reminding guests that their support plays a vital role in changing lives. The evening reached an emotional high point when he performed his Emmy award-winning song, “What I Am,” alongside the Variety Children’s Chorus, a powerful and uplifting collaboration that underscored the night’s message of inclusion, confidence, and possibility.

“I’m super happy to be here, first and foremost, because Variety does the kind of work that encompasses my entire life,” shared Christopher Jackson. “We’re an autism family, my oldest son has autism, and we’re in the arts. There’s nothing more powerful than a child who has been given free reign over his or her imagination.”

Throughout the program, guests were introduced to the real-life stories of Variety Kids, offering a meaningful glimpse into how access to critical resources, from medical equipment and therapy services to inclusive recreation and performing arts, creates life-changing opportunities.

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of attendees, partners, and supporters, the 2026 Believe Gala raised over $600,000 in support of Variety’s mission; which included the most successful Fund-A-Need in the event’s history. The funds will directly benefit local children and teens with disabilities, ensuring essential equipment, programs and services that foster independence, confidence, and joy.

The evening also featured a dynamic live auction and opportunities for direct giving, each contributing to the overwhelming success of the event.

“As we shared these Stories of PossAbility, we were reminded that every child deserves the chance to write their own story,” shared Brian Roy, CEO of Variety St. Louis. “The support we saw tonight ensures that more children will have the opportunity, tools, and encouragement to reach their full potential.”

As the evening concluded, guests left with a renewed sense of purpose and optimism, united by the belief that when a community comes together, possibilities are limitless.

Variety St. Louis extends its deepest gratitude to its partners, donors, Variety Families, volunteers, and staff for making the 2026 Believe Gala a resounding success.
