Each year, an impressive group of women gathers for the Variety Women's Holiday Luncheon. The group includes both current and prospective Variety Women, a passionate network of women who invest their time, talent and resources to support Variety Kids.
At the luncheon, these women learn more about Variety and our upcoming events from Variety Board Member and Chair of Variety Women Laura Ellenhorn. The focus is on Runway Lights Fashion Show, an annual spring event that Variety Women volunteer for and attend, and TherHappy Kids, the Variety program that the women primarily support.
This year, the event was held at the Saint Louis Woman’s Club on Thursday, November 29. Nearly 35 attendees enjoyed a festive lunch as well as time networking before listening intently to an inspiring story from Variety Mom Jennifer. Jennifer talked about how Variety’s TherHappy Kids program benefits her son Jackson through multiple therapy sessions each year, taking a moment to share a heartfelt thank you to the philanthropic group in front of her who help make it possible.
The group also met Dr. Susan Schuh, Variety’s chief program officer and Mary Murawski, Variety’s new senior manager of philanthropy and facilitator of Variety Women. These two explained more about Variety’s additional programs and opportunities for involvement throughout the year.
Before the event wrapped, it was time for the big moment that occurs each holiday luncheon – the unveiling of the designer for the 2019 Runway Lights Fashion Show! We can’t release this information to the public just yet, but we can say that the women were very excited about the choice of designer.
From here, Variety Women will spearhead table and ticket sales for the Runway Lights Fashion Show, led by 2019 Sales Chair Valerie Hoffman. Their assistance is vital to this event, which raises funds for TherHappy Kids and will take place on Saturday, April 6 in 2019. Thelma Steward will once again serve as honorary chair for the event.
