Variety in the Morning 2018

It’s not every day you’ll see a group of kids take over the news. Thanks to Fox 2, April 24, 2018 was one of those days.

On this day, Variety Kids and Teens acted as anchors, reporters, forecasters and more on “Variety in the Morning,” a spin on the TV station’s “Fox 2 in the Morning” show. They appeared on TV sets across the region alongside the professionals, bringing St. Louisans the latest and greatest.

Nick and Lindsey kicked things off by introducing each segment as the anchors of the day. First, they passed things off to Brendan, who helped Meteorologist Glenn Zimmerman deliver the forecast for the day. From the looks of it, we think Brendan was born to be a weatherman!

Next up was traffic, which was brought to you by twins Rachel and Kara, who joined Monica Adams on the traffic map to offer up some road safety trips – always buckle up and wear sunglasses – before sharing their favorite songs to “jam” out to during a traffic jam.

Christine then appeared on the scene with some breaking news. She shared important information about John Legend coming to St. Louis for Dinner with the Stars on April 28!

Then, we shot over to the Skyfox, where Gabe was hanging out with John Brubaker. Gabe asked John all of the pressing questions we’ve been curious about, so that we could learn a little more about the helicopter and cameras that so often bring us the most up-to-date news stories.

Brian and Contact 2 Reporter Mike Colombo were up next, when they interviewed Garon Mosby of the St. Louis Fire Department about the importance of fire safety and smoke alarms. We also found out that Brian’s new dream job is to be a reporter!

Next, it was time for Reel World with Kevin Steincross and his guest critic, Variety Teen Adair! Adair and Kevin shared their love for the hit movie, The Greatest Showman, which had recently come out on DVD and Blu-ray, and Adair performed her favorite song from the movie.

Finally, our morning segment was wrapped up as Chase introduced Kim Hudson and her 9 a.m. show! Chase’s bow tie nearly stole the show.

But that wasn’t all – Variety Teen Danielle joined the Fox 2 and KPLR 11 team in the early afternoon with not one, but two, interviews with Kelly Imo. The topic? Imo’s for Kids Day on April 25.

Thank you to Fox 2, and to all the wonderful anchors and reporters, for letting our kids share their stories. If you missed even a minute of Variety in the Morning, you can catch our segments on our YouTube channel here and find more photos here. We’re signing off!
