Selah's Moment in the Spotlight

It was Opening Night for Variety Theatre’s production of Peter Pan and Variety Kid Selah was on stage as Jane Darling. Her dad, Luke, was in the audience, unaware of what was coming next.

Selah had never walked, but she was about to fly.

After thinking happy thoughts, Selah was suddenly soaring through the air, leaving her wheelchair – and fear – far behind. Her dad was mesmerized, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience.

Selah flying in Peter Pan was what we call a “Variety moment.” These moments showcase the abilities of the Variety Kids who are part of Variety Theatre’s inclusive Children’s Ensemble. And they are the moments that give Variety Kids confidence and self-esteem long after the curtain falls and the lights go up.

But these moments aren’t possible without supporters like you.

Thanks to your generosity, Variety Kids and Teens have flown across the stage, danced in the spotlight, taken on important roles and so much more. With your help, who knows what Selah and her friends can do this year.

Give to Variety Theatre now to support Variety moments on stage and beyond and come see this year’s Variety Theatre production, Mary Poppins, taking the stage October 18 – 27, 2019 – tickets go on sale August 1.
