This week, June 24 – 28, 2019, is our third annual Curtain Up Camp. Throughout the program, members of this year’s inclusive Variety Theatre Children’s Ensemble will gather for music and dance lessons, acting classes and more in preparation for a showcase presented to friends and family. It is free to all participants, made possible by supporters like the Sakiyama Family Foundation.
Earlier this year, the Sakiyama Family Foundation made a pledge to support Curtain Up. President Tom Sakiyama has a history of supporting and working in special education and the arts, so joining those passions together to support an inclusive theatre program just made sense.
The pledge will help us provide the kids and teens of all abilities in the Children’s Ensemble with an experience that will prepare them for the professional Variety Theatre program this fall. Together, this group not only learns new skills, but they also establish independence, make friends and build confidence.
Thank you, Sakiayma Family Foundation, for making this possible. It is with your support that we are able to give kids and teens of all abilities a turn in the spotlight.
