It’s true – Variety Theatre would simply not be the program it is today without the generous financial support of many individuals and organizations. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is one of these organizations whose funding makes our mission possible.
The NEA supports projects that provide access to the opportunities and connections, as well as the joy, that the arts bring. This year, they have decided to award Variety Theatre with a grant that supports projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts.
Our Variety Theatre program does just that by providing local children and teens with disabilities with more than just time on stage. This program teaches new skills, improves self-esteem, fosters independence and so much more. We also aim to bring a message of inclusivity to our audiences, by showing them that people of all abilities can succeed.
