New this year is a Variety Chorus program designed for kids (ages 8 – 12) and teens (ages 13 – 20) of all abilities who love to sing!
This new program, called Everybody Sings, is free to all participants and does not have any requirements other than a love of singing, so no auditions will be held. All abilities and experience levels are welcome in this inclusive group! If your child is interested, simply sign up for one (or more!) of the three 10-week sessions throughout the year:
- September 16 – November 25, 2019
- December 2, 2019 – February 10, 2020
- February 3 – April 20, 2020
Classes will be held on Monday evenings at Whitfield School. The instruction will be informal and the content will include songs from many genres, with an emphasis on popular, age-appropriate music. The Everybody Sings director, John Tengowski MDMT, is currently majoring in Music Direction for Musical Theatre at Webster University, and has performed in, conducted and directed over thirty musicals and plays.
Throughout each session, we will also host “Celebrity Days,” during which prominent St. Louis celebrities or performing groups will sing with the class. These will be theatre, sports and community leaders who will certainly have a positive impact on participants!
On the last day of each class, parents and friends will be invited to a Watch Day for an in-house performance of the songs the children have been learning to sing throughout their session.
Class size is limited to 20 children, so make sure to register as soon as sign-ups are available for each session! While there is no attendance requirement, we are aiming for an 80 percent attendance rate for each class, so please keep that in mind when selecting your sessions.
Sign-ups are now open for our first session, which will begin on Monday, September 16 and run through November 25, 2019. Please contact Robin Diehl with any questions, including class times, and to register today!
