Here's something about Mary

Elizabeth DeRosa Elizabeth DeRosa as Mary Poppins

Just about the only way Elizabeth DeRosa would be more perfect for the role of Mary Poppins is if her real name was, in fact, Mary Poppins.

It’s not, of course. And she’s not English, either.

Still, could Variety Children’s Theatre have chosen a better Mary for their production of Mary Poppins, taking place Oct. 23-25 at the Touhill Performing Arts Center?

After all, Elizabeth’s played Mary Poppins in many other productions, including on Broadway. So she knows all Mary’s moves, from how to hold her trademark parrot head umbrella, to how to glide smoothly over all 14 syllables in “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.”

Plus, she’s got Variety connections through Kristen Teeter, daughter of VCT director Lara Teeter, who also appeared in the Broadway production of Mary Poppins.

On top of all that, Elizabeth has been an actual nanny for four different families while seeking stage work in New York.

As a graduate of the same Carnegie Mellon University theater program that produced Megan Hilty, Josh Gad, and Holly Hunter, blessed with a crystal-clear voice, and with all her Mary Poppins experience, Elizabeth is more than “practically perfect” for Variety’s production. She’s simply perfect.

We hope you’ll come see, and hear, for yourself.
