Today, Nov. 28, is Giving Tuesday. This day, which always falls the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a global giving movement that encourages people throughout the world to reach out and help others by volunteering, donating or advocating for a cause. It falls after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the biggest shopping days of the year, to remind us what this time of year is really all about – the “Season of Giving.”
On this Giving Tuesday, we’d like to introduce, or, perhaps, re-introduce, you to a long-time Variety Kid, Gracie. She has been a part of the Variety family since she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy before her first birthday, and she is now 18 years old.
Gracie often requires assistance for even the most simple of things. From brushing her teeth, to eating a meal, to stretching, her family helps her with multiple tasks every day. And, when her family can’t help, Variety is there, every step of the way.
Over the years, Variety has been able to provide Gracie with countless pieces of equipment and numerous therapy sessions, as well as multiple programs that have given her unique and fantastic experiences. We watched her fly as a Flying Monkey in The Wizard of Oz, laugh and play at camp and make friends that will last a lifetime.
Now, Gracie has started college, with her family and Variety by her side.
None of this would have been possible without supporters like you. On Giving Tuesday, and throughout this season of giving, please consider donating so that families like Gracie’s can continue to count on Variety.
