Since 1985, the Southwest Airlines LUV Classic Golf Tournament and Party has raised more than $19 million for children’s charities across the country. Although this year’s tournament, originally scheduled for October, was canceled due to COVID-19, Southwest still wanted to celebrate the event’s 35th year by donating $1 million dollars to charities serving children, their families, and communities.
Southwest selected a total of 101 local charities, one in each domestic city the airline serves, to receive a donation in 2020. We are pleased to announce that they have selected Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis to receive a gift this year! You can find more information in the graphic below and view the full list of recipients here.
Thank you, Southwest Airlines, for this generous gift and for helping us make the impossible, possible for local children and teens with disabilities. These Variety Kids are among those most vulnerable to the novel coronavirus and their families are greatly impacted by the social and economic effects of the global pandemic. That’s why we are committed to providing them with uninterrupted access to the medical equipment, therapy services and innovative programs they need to stay healthy, happy and strong. This donation will ensure that we are able to continue to do so, now and into the future.
