Read all about it! This Thursday, November 16, 2017, you can support local charities by taking a trip through time and purchasing a newspaper the way they were meant to be bought – from an excited newsboy (or girl) with a booming voice. It’s St. Louis’ annual Old Newsboys Day, when thousands of volunteers will hit the streets to sell a unique newspaper benefiting St. Louis-area children.
Old Newsboys has raised millions of dollars since Old Newsboys Day was started by the Globe-Democrat in 1957. Now part of the Suburban Journals, the mission lives on today with a special edition written by area high school students and highlighting regional charities each year.
From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, find a corner with a Newsboy to purchase your copy (a list of all locations is available here). All proceeds go directly to local children’s charities, like Variety. These charities apply for grants, and Old Newsboys will announce which charities will receive funding this coming spring.
We hope that you’ll get out and support area kids by purchasing a newspaper. Thank you to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, and all of the Newsboy volunteers, for continuing this wonderful tradition.
