Imagine if you couldn’t walk on your own, or talk to your friends, or even taste your favorite meal. You probably wouldn’t enjoy life quite as much, right?
Here at Variety, we make these everyday things possible for kids and teens with disabilities living in the St. Louis region. But not without your help.
Today, we are launching our “Every Day PossAbilities” campaign with a goal of raising $1.6 million to change the lives of local children with special needs. Every dollar raised will stay right here in St. Louis to give Variety Kids access to the medical equipment, therapies and innovative Camp and Performing Arts programs that empower them to redefine their abilities, every day. The impact of these programs and services helps them to reimagine their possibilities for independence, self-expression and connection with the world.
“Variety believes that engaging in the everyday activities that most kids take for granted is important for all children,” says Larry Otto, Board Chair. “Granting a piece of medical equipment is much more than the equipment itself, it unlocks the ability to join in or participate. Variety makes gifts of medical equipment and provides programs that give kids more possibilities every single day.”
Variety Families already face many economic challenges when it comes to raising a child with a disability. Add in a global pandemic, and these challenges are only amplified.
We have seen increased requests for medical equipment, therapy services and our educational and recreational programming, and our waitlists continue to grow. Reaching our campaign goal will help us eliminate this waitlist and provide Variety Kids with the tools they need now to be fully engaged in our community.
Give today to make tomorrow possible for children with disabilities. If you give by May 16, your gift will be generously matched by the Steward Family Foundation. By offering a leadership matching gift, Steward Family Foundation asks the entire community to join with them and ensure Variety not only reaches but surpasses our goal. With this incredible generosity, the impact of every donation will be doubled!
On behalf of the Steward Family Foundation, David Steward says, “Thelma, our children and I are honored to serve Variety St. Louis and all that they do for children with special needs, the most vulnerable among us. Jesus said children are the kingdom of heaven. We pray that people across the St. Louis community will join us in our efforts to support Variety’s outstanding programs that change the lives of so many children.”
