The Countdown to Adventure Camp Begins!

With all of this cold weather, we’re staring to dream of summer – warmer days, playing outside and, of course, camp!

Variety St. Louis’ Adventure Camp is open for children ages 4 – 20 with medically diagnosed physical and developmental disabilities. Campers participate in experiences they may not be able to have anywhere else alongside new friends and experienced, certified staff.

We’re thrilled to officially share the dates for Adventure Camp 2018. And, no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. Due to the popularity of camp, we have decided to add another week of Adventure Camp for those ages 4 through 16. We’re also extending Teen Camp, open to teens 14 – 20, to full days this year!

Join us on the following dates for new friends, fun activities and so much more:

Adventure Camp 2018: June 4 – 8, June 11 – 15, June 18 – 22, July 9 – 13, July 16 – 20

Teen Camp 2018: July 23 – 27

Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Locations vary day-to-day, but stay within the St. Louis area, and families will be given a schedule of these locations.

As in previous years, campers will be limited to a choice of two weeks of camp so that we can serve the most campers possible!

Also new this year will be our updated registration process. The goal of the enhancement is to reduce family anxiety of a short registration window, while at the same time ensuring all families have an equal chance to register their child for summer camp.

Registrations will be accepted during a weeklong window, from February 5-9, and can be submitted online or by U.S. mail. Registration forms will be mailed out to families at the beginning of February. Online registration will be available starting February 5 at 8 a.m. and will close on February 9 at midnight. Paper registrations must be post marked no later than midnight on February 9. More details, including the online link, will be available closer to registration.

Camp assignment will be determined by random selection from submitted camp applications. Applications received within the designated registration window will be processed in a randomly generated order. Those outside of the window will be processed as capacity allows.

New to camp? Don’t worry – our Program Manager will meet with each new family to ensure camp can best meet the needs of the child.

Variety has increased camping resources over the last 18 months to address camp demand, with additional plans under consideration. Thank you for your support and patience as we work to meet the demand for summer camp.
