On Saturday, February 8, nearly 600 people gathered to support Variety Kids at Young Variety Trivia Night 2020, presented by PS Kids Therapy! Teams competed for glory in 10 rounds of general trivia, as well as games such as Over/Under and the Scavenger Hunt. The event also featured raffle prizes, a Balloon Pop and more.
At the end of the evening, the team at Table 27 was awarded the first place prize, thanks to their extensive trivia knowledge. Table 9 won “Best Dressed” team – they went all out for our “Decades” theme with their 80s workout gear!
Fox 2 and KPLR 11 reporter and anchor Mike Colombo returned as our guest emcee this year, and he was again joined by Variety Teen Nick to read a round of questions. Variety Teens and alumni also had a table of their own, and greeted guests as they checked in for the evening.
All funds raised at Variety Trivia Night will support these and other Variety Kids and Teens, helping provide them with access to vital medical equipment and therapy services and the opportunity to participate in innovative Camp and Performing Arts programs. Towards the end of the night, a generous anonymous donor presented a challenge – they agreed to match all individual donations made by noon on Sunday, greatly increasing the number of Variety Kids the event will now assist. In all, this matching challenge raised $4,376, which will now be matched by the anonymous donor!
In all, it was a fun evening and we are thankful to everyone who helped to make it a success. Thank you, especially, to first-time Presenting Partner PS Kids Therapy for your generosity, and to Supporting Partner Sensi by Emerson. We’d also like to thank Bar Partner United Access and all of our Round Partners, Nick McGeehon, Alliance Rehab, Sensory Solutions, Kay-Bee Electric and Safety National for their continued support.
A big shout-out also goes to Urban Chestnut Brewing Company for donating beer to the event, and to Luxco for providing the liquor for our VIP tables. And thank you to Imo’s Pizza for providing a special pre-order option for our tables, further supporting Variety Kids with a portion of those proceeds.
Finally, thank you to Mike Colombo for again emceeing our event, and to our fabulous volunteers and Young Variety board members who helped it go off without a hitch. And, of course, we can’t say “thank you” enough to all of our guests!
We hope to see everyone again next year! We’ll announce the date and theme towards the end of 2020. Looking for more photos from this year? Click here for our Flickr album!
