Calling all Kids and Teens who Like to Sing and Dance!

Kids and teens of all abilities are invited to audition for the inclusive Variety Children’s Chorus and Dance Program. The Chorus performs throughout the St. Louis area, spreading Variety’s message of inclusion for all to hear.

Auditions for the 2018 Children’s Chorus will be held on Thursday, August 16 at Whitfield School. Registration will open at 5:30 p.m., with auditions commencing at 6 p.m. Children and teens ages 9 through 20 are eligible to audition – no previous experience is required! Auditions will be conducted on a first-come, first-heard basis.

For the audition, all children and teens will be asked to sing “Happy Birthday” starting on the pitch E. The starting note can be heard here. Click here for a low E, which will be the starting pitch for changed male voices.

Auditions will be led by Variety’s new Chorus Director, Dr. Jeff Carter. Jeff is a professor and chair of the Department of Music at Webster University and has performed in Asia, South America, Europe and all across the United States. Previously, Jeff has led multiple renowned choirs and has appeared on stage in numerous musical theatre productions. He is excited to work with the Variety Children’s Chorus!

For those interested in the Dance program, which is lead by talented dancer and choreographer Dustin Crumbaugh, auditions will be held at Whitfield School at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 23. The same age eligibility applies to this program where youth of all abilities learn how to express themselves through movement – and have a lot of fun along the way!

Whitfield School is located at 175 S. Mason Road, St. Louis, MO, 63141. Both auditions will begin at 6 p.m. on their respective dates, and those of all experience levels and abilities (ages 9 – 20) are invited to audition.

This year, practices will be held weekly on Thursdays beginning September 6, 2018. Performances will take place throughout the school year, culminating in Variety Week in April 2019.

We hope to see you at auditions! Please contact Robin Diehl via email or phone at 314-720-7717 with any questions. No advance registration or notification is required.
