Earlier this week, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch ran an editorial about the “profligate spending” of the Wounded Warrior Project charity. Under the headline, “Living it up on other people’s money,” the Post reiterated an important point: Never give blindly to any charity; check them out first. While agreeing wholeheartedly with that advice, full disclosure requires Variety St. Louis to admit that we do indeed help people live it up on other people’s money. And, as you can see, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Update to an item from December: Variety St. Louis has been awarded $3000 from Yelp Foundation's local grant program. We were proud, and surprised, to make the short list, and grateful to all our friends who voted for us. 3K will help us outfit a kid with a pair of hearing aids or a therapeutic bike, or allow several kids to attend our summer camp. In other words, the money will do good things. So thanks again to all of you. And thanks to Yelp.
