A Torch Award for Variety

Last week, at the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois' annual Torch Awards, Variety the children's charity was honored with one of the two awards given to local charities. Variety CEO Jan Albus accepted the award from BBB President and CEO Michelle Corey during the award program held at the Chase Park Plaza.

A winner. An innovation. A winnovation.

From the list of things that don’t go together, like a blue suit and brown shoes, you can now remove manual wheelchairs and steep hills…thanks to a Tennessee company called Max Mobility. They’ve created something called the Smart Drive, a revolutionary power assist device that helps manual wheelchairs overcome steep hills, carpeting, and grass. They named it Smart Drive; Variety named it Innovation Award winner at this year's Champions for Children Summit.
